It depends on your tattoo’s size, ink color, density, age, location and your skin type. Small, older black-ink tattoos usually clear fastest; dense, colorful professional work takes longer. At your consultation we assess your specific tattoo and give you a realistic session range before you commit to anything.

Most people describe it as a quick snap against the skin — uncomfortable, but brief. Sessions are short, and we use cold-air cooling during treatment and topical numbing when appropriate. Bony areas like ribs and ankles tend to be more sensitive than fleshy areas.

Per-session pricing at BeyondSkin starts at $199 for XS tattoos and ranges up to $599 per session for very large areas, based on measured size. A 5-session package includes a 6th session at no charge. Your exact price is confirmed after we measure your tattoo at your consultation.

PicoSure Pro’s 755 nm wavelength is particularly effective on black, blue and green pigments — including blues and greens that resisted older lasers. Warm colors like red, orange and yellow can respond more slowly at this wavelength. We’ll tell you honestly at your consultation what your specific colors are likely to do.

Yes — fading for a cover-up is common and typically requires fewer sessions than complete removal. Lightening the existing ink gives your tattoo artist far more freedom with the new design. Tell us your cover-up plan at the consultation and we’ll build the treatment plan around it.

Yes. The laser is precise enough to treat a name, a section, or a blowout while leaving the rest of the tattoo untouched. Partial removal is priced by the treated area, not the whole tattoo.

Often, yes. Tattoos that plateaued under older laser technology can still respond to picosecond treatment, and PicoSure Pro’s parameters can be customized for previously treated skin. Bring your treatment history to the consultation so we can plan around it.

When treatment is performed correctly and aftercare is followed, scarring is uncommon. Temporary redness, swelling or blistering can occur and typically resolves during healing. Note that some scarring visible after removal was actually left by the original tattooing. We review your skin and risk factors before treating.

Typically 6–8 weeks. Your skin needs time to heal, and your body needs time to clear the fragmented ink — that clearing is where much of the visible fading actually happens. Treating too soon adds cost without adding results.

Darker skin tones can be treated, but they require conservative settings and an experienced provider to protect the skin’s natural pigment. At your consultation we evaluate your skin type and, when appropriate, perform a test spot before treating the full tattoo.

Expect redness, swelling and a brief white “frosting” of the treated area. Some tattoos blister — that’s part of normal healing, not a complication. The area settles over the following days while fading continues in the weeks after.

Keep the area clean and protected, avoid picking at any blisters or scabs, skip pools, saunas and intense exercise for the first 24–48 hours, and keep the area out of the sun with SPF once healed. We give you written aftercare instructions at every visit.
